ASSE Certified Legionella Water Safety & Management Specialists

ASSE Certified Legionella Water Safety & Management Specialists

Have you ever wondered what qualifies someone as an expert in control of Legionella bacteria in building water systems? Of course, a robust resume backed with experience and knowledge concerning prevention, testing, and remediation of Legionella is a must, but a new certification exists to distinguish those who are highly qualified water system specialists from those who are not.

IWC Innovations is proud to announce an exciting achievement amongst four of our top professionals. Brian Waymire, Bill Pearson, Brian Pickett, and Jack Murphy have all obtained their Certified ASSE 12080 Legionella Water Safety and Management Specialist certificate.

ASSE Certified IWC Innovations

ASSE/IAPMO/ANSI 12080 outlines the minimum qualifications needed, including knowledge and competency, to become a member of a water safety team involved in the development of a risk assessment analysis, and water management and sampling plan, for protection from Legionella and other waterborne pathogens. Its purpose is to provide a curriculum of minimum criteria, identified by industry consensus, to ensure knowledge and understanding of standards and codes, and the resources, understanding, and skills needed to conduct a facility risk assessment and implement a water safety and management program to reduce the risk of infections due to Legionella.

ASSE/IAPMO/ANSI 12080, Professional Qualifications Standard for Legionella Water Safety & Management Personnel, was designated as an American National Standard by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Those with an ASSE 12080 Legionella Water Safety and Management Specialist Certification must complete a 24-hour training course encompassing all aspects of ASSE Standard 12080, and pass a 100-question written exam demonstrating core competencies in environmental testing, risk assessment, water safety and management programs, mitigation and remediation methods, construction and renovation, and case investigation.

This complex certification guarantees customers of IWC Innovations that all water management plans, testing and testing analysis, prevention, remediation and extenuation surrounding Legionella are performed by individuals possessing the most up to date understanding and skillset the water industry can provide. This certification adds to the long list of credentials that surround all employees of IWC Innovations in terms of experience, leadership and knowledge encompassing the mitigation of Legionella bacteria.
