At IWC Innovations, we’re excited to announce the launch of our patent-pending HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart (HDC), a game-changing, rapid, and temporary water disinfection solution designed to meet both emergency and planned contingencies. This system provides an effective, reliable, and easy-to-integrate disinfection solution without requiring permanent modifications to your existing water systems. The launch of the HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart marks a major milestone in our mission to promote water safety and quality, especially when it’s needed most.

What is the HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart (HDC)?

The HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart is a portable, on-demand supplemental disinfection system designed to deliver fast, reliable, and temporary water disinfection. Ideal for emergency situations and planned contingencies, the HDC offers a quick solution to ensure that water systems remain pathogen-free, all without the need for permanent changes or infrastructure overhauls. Whether you’re facing a crisis or proactively looking to protect your water systems, the HDC provides the flexibility and efficiency you need to safeguard your water system.

How the HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart Works

Using advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), the HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart eliminates harmful pathogens and contaminants on-demand. This system continuously maintains a low, steady concentration of HydroTreat™ in the water supply for extended periods, typically 60 days, helping to ensure that your water system remains free from Legionella bacteria and other waterborne pathogens. Unlike traditional high-dose chlorine treatments, our HDC offers a less invasive, ongoing solution, reducing the risk of damage to equipment and infrastructure, while reducing biofilm, and bacteria levels.

HydroTreat has shown proven efficacy in both field and laboratory settings, effectively combating biofilm by killing and removing it from a range of plumbing materials. Its ability to target and disrupt biofilm growth makes it a valuable solution for maintaining clean and efficient plumbing systems.

Key Benefits of the HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart

The HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart offers a range of benefits that set it apart from traditional water disinfection methods.

  1. Sustained Disinfection: With a continuous, low-level treatment over 60 days, the HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart keeps your system protected against Legionella and other waterborne pathogens.
  2. Biofilm removal: recent laboratory data has demonstrated that HydroTreat™ not only kills waterborne pathogens, but removes biofilm effectively from a variety of surfaces.
  3. No System Shock: Unlike traditional disinfection methods, the HDC avoids a sudden chemical spike, reducing the risk of equipment damage and preventing the need for water system shutdowns.
  4. Cost-Effective: By providing long-lasting, sustained disinfection, the HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart reduces the need for frequent treatments and costly repairs, making it more cost-effective over time.

Use Cases for the HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart

The versatility of the HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart makes it suitable for a wide range of applications:

  • Legionnaires’ Disease Case Investigations: Quickly address potential or apparent contamination concerns.
  • Routine Monitoring: Keep water systems consistently protected.
  • Maintenance and Preventative Treatment: Safeguard your water system between scheduled maintenance cycles.
  • Vacant Buildings or Infrequent Utilization Areas: Promote improved water quality in underutilized spaces with appropriate exchange of aged water for fresh water.
  • Construction Disturbance: Protects the water system during internal and external construction/renovation projects that can disturb plumbing infrastructure
  • Disaster Recovery: Provide rapid disinfection in response to emergency situations.

Remediation vs. HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart

When it comes to water disinfection, two approaches can be used: remediation and the HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart (HDC). While both methods aim to eliminate harmful pathogens, the HDC does not negate the need for acute hyperchlorination, as it has limitations, especially when dealing with higher concentrations of pathogens that are widespread. The HDC system is designed to manage lower concentrations of pathogen growth, whether local or widespread. Ultimately, IWC specialists will need to assess the situation and determine the recommended course of action.

Remediation: This method involves adding a high concentration of chemicals to the water system for at least 4 hours to eliminate higher concentrations of Legionella bacteria or other waterborne pathogens. While effective, this approach can cause corrosion damage to equipment and requires water system shutdowns.

HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart: In contrast, our HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart provides a less invasive, long-lasting approach by continuously administering low-dose HydroTreat™ disinfection over 60 days. This sustained treatment promotes ongoing protection against waterborne pathogens, minimizing disruption to your system and avoiding the need for facility shutdowns.

The Future of Water Disinfection with HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart

The launch of the HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart marks a significant step forward in water disinfection technology. With its ability to provide continuous, low-dose disinfection over the treatment period without the need for permanent system modifications or water system shutdowns, the HDC offers a reliable, cost-effective solution for a wide range of applications. Whether you’re dealing with an emergency, performing routine maintenance, or protecting newly constructed systems and renovations, the HydroTreat™ Disinfection Cart promotes water quality and safety with minimal disruption. As we continue to innovate and improve water system solutions, the HDC stands as a testament to our commitment to providing sustainable, effective solutions when water quality matters most.
