Water Safety Specialist
A Water Safety Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring clean, safe, and efficient water management.

Department: Water Treatment/Remediation
Reports to: Director of Water Treatment
Expectations
Assessment and Analysis:
- Water treatment consultants evaluate existing water systems, analyze water quality, and identify potential issues.
- They assess the specific needs of clients, whether it’s for residential, commercial, or industrial purposes.
Customized Solutions:
- Consultants design tailored water treatment plans based on the unique requirements of each client.
- They recommend appropriate technologies, equipment, and processes to improve water quality and safety.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Water treatment consultants stay informed about local and national regulations related to water quality and treatment.
- They ensure that their clients’ systems comply with these standards.
Installation and Maintenance:
- Consultants oversee the installation of water treatment systems.
- They provide guidance on proper maintenance practices to ensure long-term effectiveness.
Client Education:
- Consultants educate clients about water treatment options, benefits, and potential risks.
- They help clients make informed decisions regarding water purification, filtration, and disinfection.
Sales and Negotiation:
- Some consultants are involved in sales, promoting water treatment products and services.
- Negotiating contracts and pricing with clients is also part of their responsibilities.
Problem Solving:
- When issues arise (such as water contamination or system malfunctions), consultants troubleshoot and find solutions.
- They may collaborate with engineers, chemists, and other experts to address complex problems.
Continuous Learning:
- Staying updated on advancements in water treatment technology and research is essential.
- Consultants attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance their knowledge.
Requirements
- Requires High School diploma or equivalent
- Preferably some post-secondary education or training in water treatment, environmental science, or a related field.
- Obtain ASSE certification and GSA security clearance.
- Should be able to use and maintain various tools, equipment, and instruments for water treatment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and charts. Communicate clearly and courteously with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Work independently and as part of a team while handling multiple tasks and emergencies.
- Walking and standing for long periods.
- Walking on uneven surfaces.
- Frequent bending, pushing and pulling.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
- Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
